Post Master's Adult-Gerontology Acute Care (ACNP)

The Post-Masters Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) Certificate Program is designed for students who have already earned a Masters of Science in Nursing degree. The Post-Master's AGACNP prepares students to advance their career in as few as three semesters, provided all prerequisite courses have been completed.  In the AGACNP program, students are prepared to provide advanced acute care to adults across the age continuum, from adolescent to frail elderly. Student in AGACNP program gain a strong background in advanced health assessment, differential diagnosis, interpretations of laboratory and imaging diagnostics, complex monitoring, and direct care management of episodic, complex chronic, acute-on-chronic, acute, and critical illness. The stabilization of patients with multiple complex health problems and prevention of complications through high-quality, cost-effective inter-professional team management is emphasized. Students complete 41 credits in theory, advanced clinical procedures, and clinical practicum courses, including 600 hours of supervised clinical practice in acute and/or critical care settings. Upon graduation, students will be eligible to apply for national certification as an AGPCNP, and state-sanctioned prescriptive authority.
