Preprofessional Courses (PP)

PP-100 Intro to Health Professional School (0 credits)

This one-hour seminar introduces the student to the professional health school application process, the lifestyle of a professional health school student, the importance of making alternative career plans, and how the preprofessional health program at Alverno prepares students for getting into professional health school. Time will be scheduled during Mid-Semester Assessment Days.

PP-200 Introduction Professional School Exams (0 credits)

This two-hour seminar introduces the student to the different professional health school standardized tests and introduces test-taking and studying strategies. Time will be scheduled during Mid-Semester Assessment Days. You will receive an email about the day and time.

PP-250 Grad/Prof Sch Exam Prep Sem (0 credits)

The student learns how to prepare for graduate and professional school examinations (GRE, DAT, MCAT, PCAT, LSAT, and GMAT) in this online course. By taking the appropriate tests as practice and preparation, the student is introduced to objective test-taking strategies and provided with an overview of analytical and logical reasoning skills. Individual topics review reading, writing, and quantitative content areas. A final topic reviews areas specific to the DAT, LSAT, MCAT, PCAT or GMAT.

PP-300 Pre-Health Assessment (0 credits)

All preprofessional health students are required to register for PP-300 after completing PP-100 and PP-200. In this 90-minute interactive session the student will review their preparation to professional heath school and their experiences. Students should be prepared to discuss their timeline for entering professional health school including their plans for completing the entrance exam and the application cycle. The student should also be ready to discuss or bring questions regarding their academic preparation, professional experiences and/or leadership in preparation completing their application.
